"The planet is fine, the people are fucked!"

(The following views expressed are those of a privileged male, white Austrian and do not necessarily reflect  anyone elses opinion)

Where are we now and where do we go from here? This question floated around in my head for like the last 2 years and every once in a while it managed to leave me in doubt whether or not I was doing the right thing in certain situations. Can one person's defiance actually make a difference to a greater extent?

Well, after I've seen Nicolas' presentation about "Minor Parties in the U.S" last Thursday, I thought "Wow, there you go! They turned the tables in favour of......the Republicans?! Great, just great! Four more years of ignorance disguised as strength and war sold as peace .And the worst thing is: Democrats wouldn't have been able to bring the universal remedy either.

Why? Because our immediate predecessors left us in a world of turmoil and there's a high probability that we pass it on the same to the following generation! This hasn't changed in centuries. History repeats itself!

But look, there's literally a silver lining on the horizon! George Carlin (R.I.P) coming to my rescue. After watching this short clip, I started to come off my constant worrying. I don't think mankind will lead itself to the slaughter anymore. Mother Nature will run it's course for one way or another. If there's really a tipping point, we may have reached it the very day humanity came into existence. History defeats itself!

None of us actually knows what the future holds. So I asked myself this: Wouldn't I just be better off with improving the social climate in my own microcosm rather than thinking about global warming all the time? What is the use in taking too much responsibility for my ecological footprint when I can't make one single step without "turning the light on" (Euphemism for "Destroying the earth by slow degrees")

So don't get me wrong, dear Greenpeace. Many of your fundraisers definitely are good people at heart and saving the world is great. But first and foremost, I've got to save myself in order not to end up as The Great Cynic (By the way: Is the paper you use your advertisements for 100% recycled?)
